    About this dish

    We decided to make sushi because it is a healthy dish that can easily be made by the whole family. Ariel was able to prepare the recipe all on her own because of UNCLE BEN’S® READY RICE®. As this is something that we made up on our own, it will always be special to us.


    • 2 pouches UNCLE BEN’S® READY RICE® Jasmine
    • 2 sheets Nori, (roasted seaweed sushi wrappers)
    • 1 can albacore white tuna, drained
    • 1 avocado, cut into small cubes
    • ½ cup shredded carrot
    • 1 yellow bell pepper, cut into 1½ inch strips
    • 1 small cucumber, peeled and cut into long spears


    1. Microwave rice pouches according to package directions. (Optional step to add flavor to your rice: When finished cooking, pour rice into a bowl and mix in 1 tablespoon vinegar and 2 teaspoons sugar.)
    2. Cover a bamboo rolling mat with plastic wrap. Place a Nori wrapper on the mat.
    3. Top Nori with ½ of the rice. Spread it out so it is an even layer covering the whole wrapper.
    4. Place a line of tuna down the middle of the rice layer, then add a line of avocado, and the carrot shreds.
    5. Use the bamboo mat to roll your sushi, making it as tight as you can.
    6. Cut roll into 4 even pieces.
    7. Place one piece on a plate and add the yellow bell peppers and cucumbers as petals and leaves to form your sunflower.
